Hey y'all im finally getting some decent progress on my 78' F150 Stepside 4X4 and in a few weeks it will be painted and hopefully will be ready for a May Long unveiling as many many people are looking forward to seeing the result of over 2 years of work.

-Was stripped down to just the cab on frame, grinded and cleaned, painted with POR15 chassis paint (awesome stuff, totally recommend it)
-Cab corners replaced as well as drivers side rear sill, doors got new door skins, bottom of cab was grinded down and smeared with an ashphalt-based undercoating, then sprayed with regular undercoating, cab floor was smeared with ashphalt undercoating, so going to have quiet drive with my 35's
-BDS 4" lift with shackle flip in the rear (all was sandblasted and painted with POR15) plus poly bushings
-Dual front shocks (not sure if I want to install yet, will see how it rides with single shocks for now)
-Diffs grinded and painted, taken apart with new seals and gaskets, bearings, ball joints (greasable), and U-joints, and WARN premium hubs. Hopefully will be seeing 4.11 gears soon.
-300-I6 rebuilt with 0.010" shaved deck, 0.040 shaved head thats been ported and polished, Crane cams 260 deg 0.465" lift cam.
-NP435 4-spd tranny and NP205 T-case.
-SS Braided lift brake lines, and new brakes/lines all the way around
-BRAND NEW stepside box and fenders from LMC and 3/16" steel bedfloor instead of wood.

The last day it was driven

The tear down and rebuild

And as it sits right now

It should be painted in the next two weeks, and Im hoping it will be ready for may long.

every day I drive past that truck and everytime I wanted to stop and see if you wanted to sell aha...nice work kep us updated and also how much did you pic that box up for?

03-18-2008, 09:09 AM
all in all the box without the steel bed was about $1300 with all new fenders, bedsides, and front. The crossmembers are a 1X2" square tubing, cost me $20 for the tubing (instead of $50 for each crossmember from LMC) and $200 to buy the sheet of steel and have a welder friend weld it in. He also welded up the box sodes instead of bolting them together, so its extra sturdy. Now im going to be welding in some tiedowns on the front of the bed for stratting up dirtbikes.

Looks good get er done. I think it needs boggers though.

03-19-2008, 12:12 PM
trust me, boggers have crossed my mind. but its going to see more pavement than trail for the first few year (i know its stupid, but a lot of work has been put into it and i dont really want to smash it up in the bush just yet). I think after those mud kings die, im going to be putting 15X10 Mickey Thompson Classic Locks, and 35/12.50 MTZ's

04-16-2008, 09:13 PM
you will see some more work soon, the funds have run out this month, and overtime is needed to gain more momentum. I just picked up a 79'F250 Campers Special with D60's front and rear with factory a/c. I plan on running that for a while while my project continues, needed a truck this summer and that came up at just the right time.
