I have a 99 Vortec sitting idle in the shop, awaiting a rebuild. The engine is complete, minus the wiring harness, the ECM, and the accessories. The engine spun a bearing, and landed in my lap.

I also have a 450 Impco mixer, a few forklift bottles, and great big hardon to save some money by not paying for a harness our a ECM.

Two concerns that I have found are the intake, and the timing. I can use an Edelbrock intake, and bolt up the mixer easily enough. I am also pretty sure they make an HEI stand alone unit to take care of the timing issues.

So, other than taking care of these issues, and tweaking the heads with new valve seats, is there anything else a guy should be looking at when he tries to do this?

The only issues I can recall with propane and the Vortec were the valve seats, so that shouldn't be an issue if you have the heads done. Thought there was something else, but can't remember it. :confused0006:
