Anyone been up there lately? I was up there today and it looks like they have extended the forestry road up there. Still actively logging. I went as far as i could but its still new soft muddy road up there and they have a few fairly deep trenches dug across the road. I would have tried crossing the bigger one i came across but it was getting dark and i was by myself. My backroad book doesn't show the road going that far.

I think they have been planning some roads there for awhile, but to make new ones they had to deactivate all the old ones [k] ?? I dunno

I forget how far up, but the road Y s, and the left side will take you too big meadow lake. there are tons of fsrs up there I have yet to explore. I want to check out corporation lake. Theres a quad trail you can take from big meadow lake over too another road to chute lake, you have to go over stumps and stuff I broke a leaf spring on it. even between there theres a ton of quad trails and fsrs to explore.

Sounds like your alot like me, every day after work I would drive up into the hills when I was in pen just to check out what was around the next corner...

:D

That sounds cool. I tried exploring around carmi but it was just getting too deep even at the X-country ski trails.

Hopefully one of mine is still functional by then. :D
How much worse or better would my 79 chev be compared to my 4cyl nissan king cab?
That is if i dont find a cherokee or 4runner before then.

depends what kinda driving you want to do with it.... ie. camping exploring wheeling. hauling, fishing

Im having enough fun enjoying exploring the trails. Thats all im really lookin to do, maybe some camping. Fuel cost is a down fall for the chev.
Just wondering if the size will hurt it?

ManDown

i have never found a problem with that... i like my truck because i can take alot of camping gear, or pallets to a fire plus still explore and wheeland when i need it i can haul garbage to the dump or move stuff around.. and all my chain and wheeling stuff stays in the back and doesnt get everything covered in mud when i put it back in.... just my oppinion though

Ya im actually lookin into a 81 ford with a 6" susp lift and 3" body lift, but it needs a motor.
You take your truck out wheeling this time of year at all?

Motor???

ManDown
02-18-2008, 11:32 PM
Motor???

no... just the entire front end.. hahahaha i wish it was a motor. that would have been easier. i managed to ram one of my shocks into the spring and blew it up and the rest followed and the axel and ujoint shattered when i tried to pull my buddy outa a mudhole

C.W.
02-18-2008, 11:33 PM
Ouch!! Do you have parts to fix it?

ManDown
02-18-2008, 11:39 PM
i can do the axel in an afternoon but not sure what im gonna do about the suspension.... i have most of the stuff to sas it... but then i will need new tires and rims and those 35's are pretty much brand new. so i dont really wanna have to sell em

C.W.
02-18-2008, 11:43 PM
Why would you need new rims and tires?

ManDown
02-18-2008, 11:43 PM
because there 3/4 tonne axels

ManDown
02-18-2008, 11:45 PM
8 bolt pattern i have 16" rims and 17.5" rims... (i think those sizes) but the tires i got now are for 15"s and i dont think a 15 will fit over 3/4 tonne brakes

C.W.
02-18-2008, 11:47 PM
That makes sense. I have some 35x16's but they are pretty worn. I need bigger 15's for my chev, it just has 31's on it now.
