View Full Version : cracked manifold

so, i was getting pretty annoyed with my hidden exhaus leak, so i got under my truck with a good light, and took a long look over the exhaust. the truck is a 95 f150 with the 300-6, and on the manifold where the o2 sensor is welded into, its cracked, looks like a small stress fracture, I beleive thats the cause of my leak, there was smoke coming out of it when i started it up cold. I was thinking of using brazing rod to fix the crack, anyone have any other ideas? or would anyone be able to braze it up for me? I dont have access to the torches for a month, and would like it fixed sooner than that.

Can you get it off? can you axcess it in place? If's it's easy to get to, grind it out a bit and weld it up with some nirod.

theres longer heders avail from other companies, but i dont think they fit a 4x

i had a manifold leak on my 96 f-150 300 i6 and after taking it apart their was a lot leaking the worst was the polution tube
and its frod only and it 850$ so what i did was mig welded the cracks in the polition tube and plained the manifolds it was brutal to weld because i dident want to remove the tube because i dident think i would get it back in

Not worth it to fix, and it probably won't last.

You should be able to an aftermarket header for close to or cheaper then a stock manifold.

At least that was the story with the 4L heep.
