I would like to know how to check for codes with the overdrive light its a way of testing the tranny and drive line for codes I guess any info .as well does anyone have the list of code meanings for a 95 zj

We have an OTC Genysis at work for pulling codes, datastream, etc. You can buy the handheld code readers pretty cheap from Cambodian Tire, Lordco, etc. Handy if you're going to own an EFI vehicle.
Check this out. I didn't read all of it, but has all the OBDII codes at the end.
Does your Jeep have O2 sensors after the cat? If so, it's OBDII and uses the PXXXX codes, otherwise it will have XX codes.

And not sure if it works on Jeeps, but with Chrysler products, cycle the ignition key 3 times (all within 5 seconds), leaving it on the third time. It will flash the codes out, usually 11 or 12 the first code, and ending with 55. Haven't tried this on post '95 (OBDII) Dodges though.
