View Full Version : What's it worth?

I was just wanting to get some feedback on what this old girl is worth. I'm undecided if I am going to sell it or put it in storage when the insurance is up in June and slowly tear it down then build it up. It's a '79 with a 20r. The block is cracked, but I'm still driving it with the thermostat pulled out to keep the pressure from building.(ghetto eh?) It has a brand new marlin tranny, good rims and tires. It came up from Arizona last year so the body and frame are totally mint. The only difference from the pics are that I took off the front bar and lights and threw on an original grille. Sorry to be so long winded but I figure all that info would be needed to come to a accurate conclusion. Thx:D ....I can't wait to read the non toy guys tell me $1.;)

If you are serious about selling it, I would ask for at least $4000. It's the frame that sells toyotas today. Any monkey can build swap motors etc.(like my self) but as long as the frame and cab are decent old toys like mine (82 longbox on 37's) are worth money.
I was in the states about 2 years ago, just after I had done some upgrades to mine, and some guy wanted to buy mine foe $11K. Glad I did't sell it.
Anyways, from the pix it looks like it is in good shape. Keep it.

Don't sell it. Way to nice and you'll never find another like it unless you go south to pick onr up.

sounds about right pricewise if you actually do sell it. 4g being the absolute minimum. Before I went down to Cali to get mine, I looked all around local, and the 3+g was the going price for a first gen in good shape, yet those were all local trucks and super rusty compared to yours (good for a local truck tho, but doesn't compare to a southern import)

DON'T SELL IT!!!

Its worth nothing, may aswell give it to me.:D

Seriously tho, DON'T sell it. Good clean first gens are few and far FAR between.

Hang on to that thing for dear life. If the frame really is mint, I'd look into stripping it down and repainting it. Make it last another 30 years.

thanks for the compliments boys, i've decided to perhaps sell it for no less than $3800. if it goes, cool, if not, i got a heated garage it can live in for the next 5 or 10 years....then it will truly be the olny mint 1st gen around. i don't wanna catch heat for trying to flog it, but i don't whore enough to sell it here.....;)

and yes i can see sperm shaking his head right now[16]

82K for a 79 is low, my 80 is also low at 71K but is far from stock. If it's as good as it looks i wouldn't sell if for anything less that 8K
I sold my mint box some 17 years ago when they were plentiful, bad move as now they are very rare. Nice truck keep it, and keep it as is, find a crate to wheel.

You will never forgive yourself if you do sell it. The "first gen" body style is getting harder and harder to find by the day, I am going through hell and high waters to fix my old toy and its not nearly as nice as yours is.

...I'll give ya $1000:dontknow:

thats a sweet looking toy man, like everybody else i'll tell ya, DON'T DO IT
stick it in the garage. you've been lookin on e-bay so you know how hard they are to find, you'll never forgive yourself if you get rid of it. that's the same reason why mine's sitting in the garage to, other than the whole money issue, take our word for it man just keep it

Isn't it just a 5 digit odo? My '80's is only 5 digits. Might of rolled over once or twice so its probably got 180 or 280miles
