i guess its a heep, so ill post it here, unfortunately...

being shipped monday so progress should be made soon, if i can, i will have it ready for the spudspudspudspudspud run(if i happens) if not it will be ready for my birthday weekend end of march

here is the specs to be....

Ex werock legend spec buggy(if i decide to go 37`s i can compete in the legend spec class, not sure yet)
half a tj frame, tj grill and hood

tires: will either go sx, irok or pitbull rockers, no idea on the size yet

suspension: coilovers all 4 corners, air bumps all corners, linked front and rear(3 link with a panhard front, not sure the link setup for the back yet)

stering: PSC hydro assist 8ìnch ram, have ott histeer arms, but may have to sell and buy some that are drilled to have the tierod run UNDER the arm instead of above(clearance issues im thinking)

motor: 5.0l HO mustang engine, ported heads, intake, b303 cam

trany: pretty sure im going to end up running a c4 with a 1600-1800 stall

transfercase: undecided, may end up with a 4.3:1 or 5:1 atlas or see if my doubler is fixable, and if thats the case, it will run the 208 reduction and a 205 behind that

axles: front- HP D60, 4.88 gears, thinking i may run some sort of selectable locker
rear- hd d60 rear, spindles bored out for 35 spline axles, 35 spline axles, 4.88 gears, detroit or welded.

wheelbase will end up anywhere from 100-110(i believe the old wheelbase was 100ish) depending on how the steering works out

basically a ford wearing heep clothing, everything that was planned for the b2 will be happening on this chassis, which will be the only difference

no eb grill, that would be cool but that will be another project down the road, this is just a cheep chassis swap from my bronco 2 drivetrain, mainly because it allready has the fuel cell(which i would have had to buy for the bronco 2), and my favorite part, it being a 4 seater that will protect the people in the back in a roll

how did you come across this buggy?

was just killing time on pirate4x4, the b2 needed stuff(wanted to strech wheelbase, 60's, 40's, fuel cell, fix my frame on the b2) so i decided for the cost of the chassis, i had all the parts(well alot of them)

what kind of shocks you runnin? they look like the ones Im runnin in the rear but your runnin coils too, whats the benefit of runnin both? I was under the impression that my air shocks would do the job of both. And I know i gotta run a suck down winch to prevent unloading on steep descents.

Squishy

what kind of shocks you runnin? they look like the ones Im runnin in the rear but your runnin coils too, whats the benefit of runnin both? I was under the impression that my air shocks would do the job of both. And I know i gotta run a suck down winch to prevent unloading on steep descents.

those pics are when the vehicle wasnt mine, its going to be completely redone(new axles, suspension, sway away air shocks on all corners, 5.0l out of a mustang, c6, atlas 4.3;1, 39.5 tsl's, 104" wheelbase(ish)...), im just running air shocks all around with no coils, his old setup was 4" rancho coils and i believe 18" rear shocks, the shocks were not air shocks, so they wouldnt support the weight of the vehicle like the air shocks will.

as for running a winch, i am not going to, i am going to play around and see if i can find some heavy duty bungee cord or something similar, on all 4 corners, stiff enough that it wont unload on steep inclines or decents, but soft enough that it will allow the suspension to flex fully(if that doesnt work i will just run a single center limiting strap, the way i will set this up is to fully flex the axle, and then mount the limiting strap tight at this point so the limiting strap will not limit flex, but it wont allow the shocks to drop out on a climb. it will be alot of testing to get it dialed in right, but thats half the fun

xtremeyj
01-17-2009, 11:09 PM
Im just starting to get to the point of testing shit out and dialing it all in, and as a guy just learning what this thing can do Im bound to fuck things up a bit. Could take me a while to get used to the pucker factor it's gonna give me now too.

Like your build, keep me updated, Maybe I'll learn all the things I fucked up on. and your pretty much runnin the same setup as me except wheelbase, I went longer just for a bit more stability on the steep climbs, even though my carb chokes out on me, and also for departure angle. My tires stick 2 inches past the furthest point on the rear of my jeep.

I eventually plan to cut body off past the firewall and just tube it out, bobtail the rear and boatside as well, just not sure of the design yet, just kinda build as I go kinda theory, although the cost seems to get overrun that way as I found out already.

Asking as I don't know much...why air shocks? [cheers]

the reason i went with airshocks came down to price, they are still expensive but not much compared to coilovers, and i think they should work fine for me, but we will see

i believe ride height is set by the pressure of nitrogen and "spring rate" is controlled by the oil level, which makes them very adjustable

ran into an issue today(no pics) the tailshaft on the c6 is about an inch and a half too long for the atlas and is bottoming out in the transfer case, so i need to cut the tranny output tomorrow, and the engine/tranny skid plate is going to need to be modified big time to fit

Squishy
03-07-2009, 05:10 PM
lots of progress this week, motor in, tranny in, tailshaft shortened 1.25", t case in, motor mounts and tranny crossmember built and installed, front link mounts mounted, and lower links installed, front upper cut to length. should have some progress pics soon

Squishy
03-10-2009, 01:42 AM
well more progress. wish i knew how to tell what is going on in each picture, but its pretty self explanitory, motor is mounted, tranny also, front 3 links are in(panhard isnt), still have to do steering and shock mounts.

carefull with center straps.

suckdown winches are your friend. i can count more then 30 times when i was runnign center straps when i needed more droop.

put a ATV winch on the rear with a snatch block and rig yoru front winch to hook to your axle.

in a rig liek that 90% of the time yoru front winch should be workign as a suck down.
