pre - nissan :D

79 datsun! Am radio and auto!

"restored" it (rattle can paint) and drove it when I moved up here to kelowna and was poor. then it sat at my parents for awhile and a neighbour kid kept comming over asking to buy it, so I gave in this fall. hes taking excellent care of the old girl

02-10-2008, 03:27 PM
Well i guess i should ad mine before i sell it. I've only had it for about a month. It had lots of issues and now that i have them sorted out theres 7 different people that want it so its probly gonna go to the highest offer. Sad part is i have only wheeled it once and that was before leveling the front.
Its an 87 king cab, 2.4L, 5spd with 250xxxkm on 31's. Solid frame and little rust on the body.

Wicked - Datsuns rule! My first car was a '73 240Z, that car was awesome!

I don't even have this truck any more but i found these pics the other day so now you get to see them.
I built this truck back in 83, it's a 69 Datsun cab and box on a 82 Nissan chassis.
The chassis i got from a friend who owned a body shop, it was only 2 weeks old when the body was pick axed full of holes.
I had it on the road for a while before rolling it on it's side.
The last pic was taken when i was fixing it after the flop.
I got really lucky one day a the old Surrey Nissan dealer and lucked into a bunch of NOS body parts they had stashed away.
Managed to get almost all the chrome for the grill and light surrounds a new fender, a rad support and a valance, side marker lights and some other odd parts.
It had the 2.4ltr NAPS Z engine had a header and an Offenhauser dual plane 4 barrel manifold with a 400 cfm Carter. I also jumpered the coils to fire the 4 plugs together.
I had Greens Automotive widen the stock wheels to 10" and put on a set of 33" Firestone Allterrains.
Front end was an all metal tilt.
If i find any more pics i will post em.

01-14-2010, 09:22 PM
Had a few 510s as well, heres two of the four i had, both 69s.
And one more of the PU.

01-15-2010, 06:58 PM
some more 510's i have

01-15-2010, 08:55 PM
I had a few of each, but my quadraslams always handled better that the 2 doors.
One day i would like to get another.
What do you run for power?

01-16-2010, 07:49 AM
well that's the first 520 4x4 i've seen,pretty cool[36] There were some 620
4x4's around that were built for bc hydro,I think they had international
solid front axles and running gear with an L20b.I prolly owned about 5 510's
in my youth, great lil cars.My boss was building one about 2 yrs ago with
z32 struts and brakes,sr20det,5 spd and r200 but he sold it unfinished.
Thanks for the pic's[cheers]

05-11-2010, 11:23 PM
might as well post mine here...

1990 2wd, 5 speed, stock...for now:D

10-07-2010, 12:05 AM
First run on Procomp 32"x11.5" MT. work great no prob for full flex with almost all stock.

10-07-2010, 10:22 AM
If you yank your rear sway bar you'll get a bit more stretch than that. I didn't notice much of a difference in stability without one...

10-14-2010, 10:45 AM
Are most of you guys putting solid axles in the Nissans or do you beef up the IFS somehow?

10-14-2010, 10:50 AM
You can get upgraded suspension parts, but the issue with the nissan front end is the CV joints.

if your only mild offroading, get a lift, rear locker.. and call it a day.

if your going to be rock crawling.. etc. solid axle is the way to go.

:s30x: I had lots of fun with mine before I started modding it. Once I started pushing it hard and went to 33's and cranked the torsion bars I started breaking stuff... a lot. I'm doing a SAS (check the custon fab room if you want to see it) but, like Jeremy said, if you're not crawling with it you'll be happy with a mild lift (Calmini).

Most people at npora, the pathfinder forum, just keep the IFS, but most of them aren't very innovative...largely a buy and bolt on community. Like pathy said, all the ones that do anything serious put solid axles in. He would know to, he's got the nicest pathy I've seen.

awe, thanks..[cheers]

That way maybe some of these half wits will Welcome you to the site and maybe you'll feel welcome and want to stick around and attend to an event or two [cheers]
