Hey all been a while since I did much posting on here been lurking and very busy...
Some of you might remember my 71 Bronco I had Copper color very nice...
Well I've been busy with a new project...
I had a 91 explorer that I fully intended to do a SAS on with the D44 All the shit but after the 3ed tranny blew I decided to part it out ( all thats left is a very good hood hint hint)
I bought my self a very clean 99 Explorer and while it is sooooo Nice to drive around on the road lets face it it SUCKS off road...
So I started collecting parts and stuff. The plan was to have a good DD that was more capable off road and great for camping with the family...
Front D30
Convert the AWD to a proper 2wd/4wd/4lo Tcase SOA rear and shackles...
The entire budget was to come from procedes from the parting out of the 91... I was about $100 dolars over (sans tires and gears)
Here are some pix's of the process...
O and I have to say Thanks to my buddy Pete for the use of his shop his plasma cutter and welder and of course his hoist... I don't understand how anyone could do this without all these things...lol...

The first one is my old bronco I use to miss it but I hope the guy that bought it is enjoying it...[cheers]

The springs are out of a YJ but they are modified to 7 pack and lots of arc...
D30 is out of an XJ it's high pinion sweet...
All brackets and other stuff is fabbed by me and my budy Pete...
The entire job from cutting to driving took 8 good days of working on it and a couple 6 packs of beer (ok a few 24's ...lol...)
I can drive it now but it still needs a bit of work I have to get it on the alignment machine at work and find my Caster angle so I can reweld my spring pads and stuff...
The rear shackles are not to my liking so I'll redo them...

More Pix's...

I'll post the finnished product soon Cheers...

I went with the 30 to keep ABS and shift on the fly mostly...
If I could have found a rubicon D44 with ABS I prolly would have gone that way...
For the off roading I'll be doing it will suit me fine for now... If it breakes I'll fix it, if it breaks often I'll replace it...

Lift is 8.5" front and 9.5" rear I'll wait to see if the springs settle down and fix it later...
These pix's were taken with my phone so there not the best...

Well it is driving way gooder now... Checked the alignment at work and man I need to get my eye's checked it was around -14* caster...lol...
Cut off the spring pads and rewelded them and put in a drop pitman arm...
Still need sway bars put back on with a quick disconnect system of some sort and prolly a steering stablizer when I get the real tires...
