View Full Version : Lester's Build - Weekend 2

11-25-2007, 12:11 PM
So, not too many people showed up to help yesterday. Actullay, no one showed up except dad and I. Still managed to get the roof done and the walls fully closed in.

First thing we started was finishing the roof. Tar paper on and ready for alluminum

Lester had been busy through the week and had closed in half the backside with t&g. He'd also repiled all the building material and moved the hardwood flooring inside.

They even suckered me into getting on the roof to instal sheeting. Not the most comfortable place to work but...

As we worked on putting the roof on Lester kept going on the backside.

Peter (owns a cabin further up the road) showed up on his way through. He couldn't believe there was a building up already! He also gave us instructions on how to frame the door and said he'd be back to hang it today.

Dad putting ridge cap on the roof. Notice the big safety line...

... for the ridge cap??

We finished the roof and walls almost at the same time. Door frame looks pretty good for not having a clue. Thanks to Peter's diagram.

We had to strip all the sheeting off this wall to remove the window and turn it around. What do you mean the slider/lock's not supposed to be on the outside????

After the work was done for the day I decided there's no way I'm going to be this close to the hotsprings and not go for a soak so off I went. Man did it feel good after a hard day. I got out of the tubs and felt like a cooked noodle. The ice is getting pretty impressive in places on the way in and there's about 1/2 inch of snow at the tubs.

Well, that's it for now. When we go back up, Ill post up to let people know. Maby someone will show next time. If not, we'll continue without and I'll keep posting progress reports. [cheers]

Sorry nobody showed up this weekend wade..myself included. It looks like you and your dad got along fine without us though. Looks good. Shitty bout the window.....hmmmm wonder who screwed up there not mentioning any names, cough cough b cough:D How does the t&g line up with the osb sheeting on the back side??

11-25-2007, 12:31 PM
Not your fault nobody showed. Wasn't that big of a deal anyways, we managed. T&G actually lines up pretty good with the osb. It was too late to do anything about it if it didn't anyway. We thouight that window was going to be a real bitch but actually wasn't that bad.[36]

Awsome wade. When you going up again??

Not sure. It won't be for a couple weeks anyways. I've got the week of Dec 10 off for holidays. :party0010:Probably head up for a day or 2 then. Lester figures he can handle it from here if he has to so it'll be interesting to see what he's done when we go in next.
