View Full Version : Nissan KA24 in an '82 Toyota 4x4?

A good friend of mine has a Nissan KA24 sitting in his garage that hes willing to sell to me for a really good price. Its the complete engine with a 5 speed that he was going to drop in his 240SX but now he wants to do an SR20 swap.
the wiring and motor mounts dont really concern me too much, its the tranny and T-case that Im a little bit worried about.
will a Toyota tranny work with a Nissan engine? or would I have to grab something from a nissan 4x4?

I was thinking about rebuilding my 22R but I would love to find out if this KA would work:confused0006:

It totally will work, just bolt them up. They are from the same manufacturer. Japan. [cheers]

Are you guys smokin crack???? Nissan and Toyota are from Japan but they are not from the same factory floor......there has never even been a relationship like GM/Toyota...Ford/Mazda.....etc. I love to learn new things, so please prove me wrong. I also own a Nissan and a Toyota, the only comon thing being that they can run the same manual hubs(Warn) and they have 6 bolt hubs......expand my knowlage......I'm now curious!!:D

gonna see if it fits the toy tranny first (I will seriously shit my pants if it does) then try fitting the engine in with the nissan tranny and see how everything fits up

KA24 is a SHIT motor, there is a reason why people swap them out for SR20DET's. My buddy has had three 240SX's with the KA24 and they are gutless, cant make shit for torque, and are unreliable, plus are expensive to fix. Why not a 22R or a small block?

Don't waste your time Shawn,it will NOT bolt up and is a piece of shit anyway!

It will totally bolt up. All Japan manufacturers use a removeable bellhousing section that reveals a similar bolt pattern. Just get the appropriate bell housing piece and bolt it on. Just have a look for the bolts for it. I have seen my 1.3L Suzuki motor mated to a w56 toyota tranny with just changing the housings...
