what do ya use for oil in the winter months? I used 15w40 year round down on the coast, was thinking 10w30 for winter up here?


also is a block heater needed?

motor is question is a 22r and 22re

i use 10w30 in the winter and 15w40 in the summer u dont need a block header but won't hurt but must have pretty good coolant in it

sometimes a block heater helps in kamloops, i havent ran one yet but have had some hard starts. usually just run whatevers in the engine haha. but 10 30 is best

Im using 10W30 as well, plug the block heater in every night starting just a couple weeks ago.

coolant is good for -30

5/30 is good gas winter oil
10/30 for diesals

thats what i put in vehicles at mr .quick out here

Yep, 5w30 but that is what the factory says to use all the time.
My 02 Ranger was the same.
Block heater for sure.

and

5w30 winter ..... and I havent "pluged" in for years .

im from winterpeg,, no need for a block heater out here. I will stay up at big white for 4-5 days at a time,, truck gets barried under 3ft of snow,, 22r always fires right up.. also farily mild winters
