I'm just wondering what a good crawl ratio is?

My jeep has a 34.61:1 final crawl ratio, would this be low enough to run a 34"?

Its a stock setup with a

134cu Flat Head 4 Cyl
T90 Transmission
D18 transfer case
5.37 axle ratio

[stupid]

100 is an okay ratio for most 4 cyls.

i run 175:1 and in low its too slow to bump up over obsticles, id think 100 like ern says would be perfect

I'll hae 260:1 it most likely useless for around here but thats just how it had to be. But anywhere from 100 to 150 would be good

Well i think that I'm probably going to have to do some work to make it run bigger tires.... But thanks for the info guys.

I was thinking of trying to find a Toyota 22R donor truck, and swap the engine transmission, transfer case and axles in.

Until i find a donor truck, I'm going to drive it.. only 2 things left to make it road legal anyways install the windshield and install the mirrors.

Thanks again

im with stupids...... 100 to 150 is good. i think i was around 80 something. worked good, even that was a little slow sometimes. Soon to be 200 ish to 1

it also depends on how well the motor lugs down , a v8 running properly should lug down to 400rpm and still produce enough power whilst a 4cyl in general needs to have more rpm to acheive the same results.

man, my buddy had 75:1~ in his cruiser with a 2F and it was rediculously low! That was an sm420, whatever cruiser tcase, and 4:10 diffs. Didn't need to be any lower than that.

ill be 143 to one with the auto and without useing the torque converter and brakes to slow it down ..... :)

I've had about 110:1 For the last while (120ish with the d300 now) and for some stuff I don't think its low enough.

But the options are there... If its too low I can used 3rd or higher to give a bump if needed. Or if its really needed, throw one case in low and the other in high. The options you get with dual cases kicks ass[36] I would never ever go to a single low range setup. IF I ever go to an atlas down the road in a new rig it will be a 4spd atlas so I have the in between choices still:cool:

Dude, your closer to 200:1.

I got a chart all done up, based on the TH400. with torque converter, efficiency loss..
