Went to Skagway for the afternoon and saw some cool stuff.....

From the Yukon to B.C. to the U.S. all in around an hour!!
64440

Windy Arm at Tagish Lake, Yukon.
64441

A sevice car for the Whites Pass Railway(narrow gauge) which ran gold, men, and supplies between Whitehorse and Skagway.
64442

The rail line from Skagway.
64443

The rail line through the sub-alpine at Whites Pass(almost 1KM above sea level).
64444

Looking at the American/Canadian border.....had to make a pit stop!:D
64445

A person could hike anywhere....
64446

for a while.......
64447

Anyways....was a nice spot. Now on to the border!
64448

A rail yard/ works yard at the border.
64449

The pass is REALLY steep on the sides...ya don't want to screw the pooch here.
64459

Markers for the snow plows!!
64460

Thats the hwy far into the distance....going down!
64461

The tourist pic!!
64462

These markers had me shaking my head...could you imagine plowing snow off the edge? Crazy!!
64463

Seeing as we've had some run-away lane pics lately.....
64464

This crazy suspension bridge who's name I don't remember!!
64465

Perhaps it had no name.....cool though!
64466

That's the water line for hydro purposes.
64467

Killer!
64468

This is the bay in Dyea inlet, the head for the Chilkoot trail that thousands of gold seekers hiked their 1 ton of goods(a years worth) over.
64476

A major starting spot of a historical and bizzare rush....
64477

The bridge over the Chilkoot River that heads to the town of Dyea.
64478

For many gold rushers, their dream ended here as the tide came in, wrecking their supplies....
64479

Men + deep snow= this.....
64480

We found this cemetary that contained them and others(we were trying to find the grave of the notorious Jefferson "Soapy" Smith, who ran Skagway). This guy musta pissed somebody off!!
64481

Poor guys...no gold for them.
64482

One of the old homes around Dyea.
64483

Check out the new chimney!! Sweet!
64484

A collection of old stuff with Soapy's name on it.
64485

Well call me tired and thirsty!
64496

The local spray painters party spot on the mountainside!!
64497

Skagway. This was the other option to cross the mountains(White Pass) for the gold seekers...if Soapy's men didn't rob them first!
64498

All narrow gauge.....the train station in Skagway.
64499

Some old rail cars....
64500

The diesel loco's that pull all them tourists in the summer!
64501

So it's not 4by......it wants to go do some doughnuts in the gravel though!![36]
64502

These cars run in the summer catering cruise ship tourists.
64503

Also not 4by....but hey it's a Cornbinder Travell-All.....with free boxes of stuff!!
64504

"Caution, this vehicle does NOT hand like a passenger car". I like that they lost no windows, but scratched the tinted rear side window!! Stupid driving on your side!! The front drivers wheel kinda looked funny too(odd angle), but we saw it being driven(right side up!) around town later that day!!
64505
