how compatible are these two engines?

my carbed 22R is nice, but the carb itself I have found is a POS.
would I be able to convert my engine to fuel injection using 22RE stuff? I was thinking of swapping over the entire head/intake assembly from an RE 'yota at pick-n-pull:dontknow:

i dont think you can just take any old injection shit off another motor, i do beleave that a 84 supra top end will work for you though, but dont take my word for it. get some more info on it, i'm pretty sure that one of the other toy motors is compatable but not sure on which one

there is no difference between a 22r and a 22re engine, the difference in the engine is what year it is.

a 79-84 block will work with any 79-84 head. and vice versa
a 85-95 block will work with any 85-95 head. and vice versa.

but those two groups do not interchange. ie a 79 block WONT work with a 85 head.

79-82 heads need some hole drilling and taping in order to bolt on the efi intake
83 and 84 heads have the extra holes in them needed to mount the efi intake.

ideally, if you want to swap to fuel injection, go rob all the shit from a 83-84 celica. i belive there is only like 5 wires to hook up, and it doesnt use a knock sensor.

best option , In my opinion .

find an early 83-84 celica or 84 pickup EFI , and use it .

head will the bolt on , you will be able to double chain it http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker502/images/IM000469.JPG

WITH the EFI harness , there are only 7 wires you would need to run/splice .. and this would give you engine diagnostic plugs and check engine lights .. speed sensor is also NOT an issue (as with the 85-95 EFI) as it is only utalized with the ATM .

Hey I'm selling a complete 22re from an 84 Celica GTS. I just signed up here as I've heard you pickup guys like to do this conversion. I don't seem to have access to the classified section yet and I'm not sure if starting For Sale threads in this folder is allowed or not.

Here's a pic though if any of you are interested...

The motor is still complete and runs beautifully, even with the milk shake in the bottom end. Unfortuantly the head has most likely cracked as coolant and oil is mixing when it runs. It hasn't spun any bearings yet though and I've drained the oil and replaced it. The motor had perfect compression, ran perfectly and tons of recent work and new parts in it (including the chain). I'd like to sell the whole thing, motor, harness, ecu, cluster all the efi etc and I can pull it for you as well. Located in Mission, BC. Email is suprafiend at shaw dot ca (reconstruct that).

Well I guess it would depend on what you wanted, accesories, cluster, dash wiring etc. I was thinking about 250 for the motor itself with all the efi bits, cluster and wiring and I'd pull it. Let me know what you want.
