:confused0006: hmm sometimes i wonder if i have the right combo ?

i have a 8274 warn and a optima blue deep cycle

the batt works great for the jeep and sterro can play 10 speakers and 2 amps
for 5 hours and still start[36]

but man you should see what my volt meter says when i use my winch

hows all your grounds winch and stereo draw very differently and the winch requires much more lid grounds than a stereo regardless of amps and speakers

one thing i know for sure is grounds all are good and kept fresh [cheers]

when ya come by the shop we'll see I'll pull out my big ass multimeter an tell ya
but I think your fine a winch draws alot of current so voltage will drop off alot but if ya got a good battery it will recover to a certain point

Winches are real battery killers. I have fried a few with mine and it was also one of the reasons i put in the dual batteries . Do you have room to put in dual batteries on yours and have one dedicated to starting only?

eric is always complaining there is no "room" in his jeep. he can't fit another battery as there is no room.

How low does the voltmeter drop to? I wouldn't be surprised to see 8volts.

The blue top is a deep cycle battery. Like all deep cycles they are ment to provide a small amount of power for a long time. Unlike a starting battery which is ment to provide alot of power for a short period of time.

The red top, or better yet the yellow top would be a better choice for running a winch.

The best Battery for doing wincing is the interstate Medical series they are ment for huge draw and are a full gel cell just a little pricey ( But i get a good deal;) )

Hmmm, I was always told that it was a "crossover" battery. Sorta 1/2 way between a deepcycle and a starting battery. But I think you are probably right.

So I wonder what the difference between the blue top and the yellow top actually is then?

the diff is the blue top has dual terminals on top.

Blue Top is a marine battery with a stud bolt on top
