i have a 80s 5.8ltr f 250 that i need to take out the transmission It is an NP435 . normally i would remove it with the bellhousing attached to the trans the only problem is that i have long tube headers that mean i would have to remove the headers also.
is it possible to remove the transmission and leave the bell housing attached to the motor? I can get at all 4 bolts that hold the tranny to the bell houseing easily.

Yep, done it myself a few times! alot easier because you don't need a clutch alignment tool either.

Thats how I normally do it, even when doing a clutch. Its way easier, and you could probably get the bellhousing off without removing your headers.

I had to move the collector over about 4 inches to clear my front driveshaft when i did the staight axle swap.I will give a go with the bellhousing left on the block.
