I figured since I already yanked out the engine/trans/t-case from my parts Jeep XJ, and the body is leaving tomorrow on a tow truck....I would mess around and drop one of my spare 302's in there. LOTS of room! It's not mounted in there, just sittin on the frame, hooked to the cherry picker.

I finally realized the dream of combining two of my favorite things, a 302 and a Cherokee :D

Yep, one of these days I'm gonna get me another XJ (that has a good body on it) and do this swap for real!

And the distributor on a Ford engine is on the front of the thing, not the back like a GM......should be ok for room for that......

Hmm, you don't see the big blue dist cap, attached to the distributor at the front of the engine? God Bless Ford :happy0045:

That was my point. If there's room in the back you could use a small block chev or mopar. Not that I have anything against fords. They do account for about 30% of our mechanical business.

if that motors got any sorta power above the 4.0 , your going to want to stiffen the frame with angle and your axles are going to hate you. try to not run without doors (if you do) aswell. unibodys are strong but they still twist.

Of course you can. Small Block Chevy is the MOST COMMON swap into an XJ...
