View Full Version : So I've Been Fishing A Lot Lately (Fraser - Pics Included)

I've been fishing like a mad man lately with my friends etc.

The other day my good friend Marcel landed a 6 foot 120 - 130 pounder. Had three people lift it onto the dock for him. I've caught numerous 3 - 4 footers and 2 days ago I hooked a 6`3 140 pound sturgeon, we couldn't get it on the dock though (two unexperienced guys lifting it out) but I caught some pictures that are a litttttle hard to see.

Check out the pictures! Sturgeon fishing is good fun :)

Here is Marcels Monster!

Just a baby

This is my big one that was over 6 feet, you can see his spines if you look close and the thickness of his body. The guy is holding him by a fin on his side in the first picture, second picture a bit of his head is showing. Shame Vickie couldn't snap better pics over the dock.

Super baby! lol

My brother Mikes first sturgeon caught tonight (The 4th) 3 feet about 25 pounds.

Annnnnd I caught this one tonight as well, it was approximately 3 and a half feet and about 40 pounds good fighter for a little guy :)

Wow! no shortage of sturgeon in the river eh? I remember growing up in Surrey (yeah, yeah, it was a lot different back then - 1970's) and going swimming in the fraser. Good think I didn't know about sturgeon back then or I would have freaked:eek:

Nice fish, yea they are strickly bottom feeders, and people do eat em ( where do you think cavier comes from:D ), but they are catch and release only in the fraser.

Yes, Caviar comes from Sturgeon. It used to be any thing over 3 and a half feet was a keeper, but now that they`re endangered you can't keep them.

It takes them 25 years to become sexually mature and people poach them like crazy. They also have no bones, mostly cartilage.

They are bottom feeders, you use a big weight on a slider and a worm, Eulachon, or white-fish. Maybe ditch eels... you never know.

BC_Hunter. I'm down there quite frequently. Will be even more so now with the pink arriving. approx 60,000,000 this time around I heard, can't wait!

SurreySinner, you`re thinking of the right place ;)

It gets crowded though, so don't bother if there is a large crowd ... you'll just cross lines and get snagged.

I love it!
