Is it possible to replace my balljoints without having to take my xj to a shop. other than alignment?

I looked into this recently though I haven't done it yet. When I lifted my XJ 6.5" I was looking at how to change my pinion angle without totally messing up my caster and apparently there are some adjustable ball joints out there (NAPA, I think) and it is very doable by a semi competent backyard mechanic but I believe you might need a hydraulic press as they are friction fit in the knuckles. I have a link somewhere that shows how someone did it....I'll try to find it for you.

You pretty much need a balljoint to do it but you might be able to rig something up.

Checked out the link, some very useful info. Not overly expensive to buy the ball joint press. ($250.00) :party0010:
