I want to add a low range box to my Bronco with out changing the drivetrain length from stock.
the Ford np435 has a really long output shaft but it necks down for most of its length.
a Dodge is also long but doesnt neck down until the splines.
so I dropped a dodge mainshaft off at OTT to be cut down and resplined.

comparison photo of stock ford mainshaft to cut down dodge.

I ordered a rebuild kit and a new input shaft from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard for the np435.
while waiting for the kit to arrive I disassembled and cleaned.

stuffed the new parts in it.

now we wait for NWF to supply the next piece and for the np205 rebuild parts to arrive.

needed adapter length is about 3.25" (maybe get away with 3.125")
puts the overall assembly 2" longer then stock np435-np205

looks good m j

whats the reason for the course threaded studs on the blackbox?

and your mounting a 205 behind the blackbox? wouldnt that make it alot longer

coarse threaded studs are the 6 mounting points,
I am awaiting the custom short adapter.
if you don't shorten the mainshaft it moves your transfercase back over 8", with the cut down mainshaft and custom adapter it only moves the transfer case 2" from stock.
