Figured my Jeep hasn't turned a wheel in about 6 years, I should put it back together and have some over do fun. So a quick question; 1978 stock fresh rebiult 258 with electronic ignition what is the factory ignition timing set to?

not too sure but i think those are timed by the crank sensor so there's no adjustment in ignition timing. i know my 4.0L is like that. don't know if the 4.2 is the same but i think it is.

On an old 258 like that it should be set for about 8*-10* at idle with vacum advance hose disconected

Thanks for all the input. I figured it was about 8 but maybe I'll play with it abit (once it back rolling) and see what works best. Oh and 87pathy your right on the money it should be plugged.
