my dad's rear extended cab door is stuck shut...managed to get the door panel off to look at it for him and it looks like the lower latch is seized and will not release even when being pryed on. The upper latch releases just fine.
Anybody else have this problem?
shoot me an email if you have any ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Rick from Chilliwack

Thanks 230, did a search there and found out it's a common problem with the bottom door latch seizing...big job to fix, but I'm always glad to help out the old man as his health is an issue right now.
Thanks again 230.

I've run into seized latches on several vehicles. Not much you can do, they're a bitch of a job no matter what. Some have a tab that you can move manually that forces the locking mechanism up, otherwise you get to do lots of hammering on it in hope it will let go. I usually roll the window down and go in from up top.

Found a thread on dodgetalk.com (THANKS 230) and got some ideas what to do to open the door.
Put the front right tire up on a ramp to twist the truck, had my dad pull the handle from the outside and gave it a good, solid kick from the inside. Opened like butta.
Unbolted the latch, went to the dealership, and ordered another one for $87...gonna pour the penetrating oil to the one on the other side so it doesn't seize too.
Thanks for all your help guys [cheers]
