Just wondering what everyone is running for a thermostat. I just changed mine from a 195f to a 180f
with a computer engine you shouldnt mess with the stock setting
I run a 180 in my old ford but mainly because I run a weak antifreeze mix and want a larger cushion before it boils over
high pressure is the best way to increase boiling point but I still cant trust my junk with a 22psi rad cap for some reason :)

Well I don't know if running a cooler temperature should really affect gas mileage, but it seems like I'm getting close to another 100km per tank since replacing the rad and thermo.

a cool motor is a happy motor.. 180 for me...

If it was running hot, it isn't uncommon for computers to dump extra fuel in order to help cool the motor off. Might have been just enough to make the difference?

Depends on the motor. The 4.0l inline six likes to run right at 195-200. Also depends on the modifications of the motor.

I put a 160 in my XJ ...runs around 85-90c on the highway ...wheeliing it runs at 100c....I also installed hood vents to let some heat out as well ...theres so many factors....water pump and rad condition ...???
