So my np208 has a reduction of 2.6:1. Those atlas t-cases are 4:1 I hear. If I want a t-case with lower gearing with or without driveshaft changes, whats the first inexpensive step? Or is there one?

Dual t-cases. I don't know if they make a lower gear set for the 205. Why you want lower gears,no rock crawling round here.Get rid of the 305 and get you some HP that will solve all your problems, well except the d44 front axle.

I gave them today and they are doing one right now. At the end of the month they should have a pretty good idea as to price and timeline.[36]

Why exactly would you double a 205 with a 208? sure the 208 has tons of reduction, but it's also aluminum and chain driven. The reason we run 205s is because of the strength, if we didn't care about the strength we would run 208s...SOOO, if you are running >A< 208 you probably don't care too much about strength so why arn't you just running TWO 208s and getting MORE reduction?

the reduction section of the 208 is strong. In this reduction unit they are removeing the the chain drive section (cutting off & welding ) so only the planetary section is used .

Grimm is it yours they are doing as the first one?

Ahh yes, of course. That makes sense. However, it IS still an aluminum chassis...

Here's a question, do you run two crossmembers or just one?

god tool.. ive nevefr witnessed you spendin more than a couple hundred bucks on ur truck.. i think ur ties were ur biggest purchase. now you want too spend over 3 grand on a transfer case? buy a 60 before you buy an atlas or worry about lowewre gearing cauze that front end WONT hold up.

That was like five months ago he posted this heh.

Also, he mentioned he didn't want to change his driveline so a doubler is out of the question, but so is an atlas because he's running slip yokes. Only way he's going to get lower gearing I think is by running a 465/420 tranny which would help his rear shaft angle...and push his front shaft in a bit too.

My overall rear of motor to rear of tcase length is about 7-8 inches shorter overall (465) than when I had my th350 in there.

Mind you you will have to convert to a standard which is expensive, but not as expensive as an Atlas.... although an Atlas has more options and I'm pretty sure you can get them with 3 or 4 reduction sets..
Keep in mind an Atlas will also affect your HIGH range as well!
