I am looking at buying a 2003 gmc 2500 hd (sle model) It is a extended cab long box full load less leather. It has the 6 liter and is an auto with 130,000 k on it. Anyone have one or know anyone that does? What do you think of these trucks? and what's it worth? It also has new bfg all terrains

Here is a pic

My dad had that truck with short box and quad cab same year I think either 02/03 was bad on gas ,and we hauled a trailer with it once and after that:o there was the same model but the 06 with a Alison tranny and diesel engine in the drive way and the gas one was gone :confused0006: But the gas one was nice.

sorry to make another post but the price of my dads truck on the trade in was 30 000 and it was in mint condition a lot less km but same age so it think that truck might be a lil cheaper,:dontknow:

The 6L doesn't get the best gas mileage,if you take it off road lots(ie logging roads) you'll wear the inner tie rods and upper ball joints out quick.
Have a good look at the brakes, these trucks tent to wear out the INSIDE pad 1st especially the right rear and the rotors tend to rust badly on the inside surface. And don't expect the e-brake to work great, shitty design.

The D60 bible writer has one (albeit a few years newer)... see what he thinks.

FWIW, some of the 6.0L trucks still use the 14-bolt full-floater. Might be worth checking for if you like Detroit lockers.

Any particular reason you think you need that new a truck? and powered by gasoline?

the 6.0 is gay... you gotta rev the bag off it to get it to move.

we have about 60 of them at work with the 6.0L,the one i use is a 2002 2500 4door with the 6.0L and it has 280,000 km on it and is always loaded, its on its third rearend and had a oil pump put in otherwise good truck,it gets about 550km to a tank i live in mission and work in burnaby and cruise around town all day ,also the 6.0L has decent power for a gaspot

i know my buddy has an 05 1500 with the 6l and so far the only bad report is the craptastic gas mileage.

Good trucks but shit on Gas. I got a 2005 1500hd with the 6 litre and 4.10 gears. Lucky to get 12-13 in Town and 15-16 on the highway. Im putting 6 inch lift and 35 on mine, Gas is going to go from bad to worse haha

We have a 2002 chev 3/4HD 6.0 and its been awesome so far [36]

The fuel mileage isn't that bad considering its a truck. We took it on a trip last year (did the washington cascade loop) and spent half what we thought we would on fuel. The short trips will kill the fuel mileage in anything. And the power out of it is nice too.

The only thing we've done so far is the rear end. Its weak, its common. and well boys will be boys ;) We put an Eaton (i think) in it and its been good so far. I think its coming up on 130000km.

My dads friend had one for towing and didn't have probs with it and now also has the 3500 diesel.

I'll make sure Burge sees the thread and can tell ya more. Or PM him.
