Stronger than a M5OD, more gears than a T18?

The zf5 has a really low 1st gear, you dont need to be stopped to shift down into it like the T18, and you get an overdrive. So most of the 4 speeds are really 3 speeds with a low range and no overdrive. The zf5 has a full 5 gears including an overdrive. Add to that the fact its a beefy transmission makes it desirable, or in your words 'special'.
