Hey folks,
Just about to throw a 4" lift into my '05 Unlimited and I'm curious about the driveline geometry.
Responses from Unlimited owners would be GREAT since the geometry is slightly different. SWB responses also greatly appreciated.
What has been your experience with your 4" lift? Obviously an SYE is preferred, but was it necessary? How bad were the vibes? Were you able to fully articulate with stock d-shaft? I will be doing an SYE, but its a matter of when. Just wondering how long I can get away without doing it.

Thanks for any info!

The SYE kit is not "necessary" but definately recomended you will probably notice minimal vibrations under acceleration the shaft should be long enough for the u jointrs not to bind under full droop

I agree with Nutbar.....I bought a SYE for my XJ ...because of reading threads ....now I have my 5 inch lift in ...with a TC drop kit ...minor vibes at 50 K ....I can more than live with it ....not sure if Im going to even install the SYE ??? see how bored I get one day ....I would lift it first and see what its like ....

Run it till it breaks, then SYE it.

You guys were right. No question. I put in the 4 incher this weekend. VERY minor vibes at about 50k/hr then it smooths out perfect. I haven't even installed the xfer case drop kit yet.
That extra 10" on wheelbase goes a long way to helping the driveline angles on a lift.
Thanks again for your $0.02

Pics coming very soon! waiting on tires/wheels.
Complete with prissy before pic for comparison.

I've learned there's no such thing as a "kit"
It's a loose gathering of nuts, bolts and parts that sometimes add up to a lift, sometimes add up to a headache.
There were coarse threaded nuts in the kit to go on fine threaded shocks. What a nightmare that was finding out the hard way. Lucky that dyes are so cheap!!!

That's the plan! One step at a time.
I had to take money out of the Jeep budget for stupid things like food and rent LOL
