i was wondering if my stock 89 cherokee axles will hanbdle 33's

front axle yes. rear axle.....Not unless it's a D44, and that is doubtful.

It all depends how you drive.
Also what engine is in your XJ?
Lots of people can't run oversize tires because of a lead foot.
If you drive with finesse, you'll be surprised how well they'll hold up.
If its a Dana44, it'll take the 33s easy, just don't drive like a moron.

in have a brand new 4.0L staright 6 with i belive a over sized crank bu i may be mistaken i cant meemebr becaus emy dad just rebuilt it and baught another then sold me this one and yah i wouldnt punch it with 33's on it so so far sounds like itll be fine once i can get th clearance

Yeah, like i said. Just take it easy. If you're on the trail and you get wheel hop or go heavy throttle, you've got serious risk of breakage. Take 'er easy and you're good to go.
However, if you want to get into more serious wheeling later on. You should consider picking up a D44 for the rear.

Jeep D44s are not that common. Most people go and find a ford 8.8.
