buy new heads good chance that the one or both have cracks in them their light dutie heads plus for what it would cost to get them done it is cheaper to buy new heads and the benift of new heads are scerw in studs port intake and exsaut plus you get more hp go to mopac their should be a sell on heads its that time world heads go for the sportmansll heads [cheers]

SBC heads aren't known for being more prone to cracking than any others, if you're not building a performance motors don't bother with new heads. Get new valve guides and seals, and have a 3-angle valve grind done (the valves likely need reseating anyways). Done, and for much less money. Bearing sets are fairly cheap, I bought a full set of Clevites for a 350 a while ago but just can't remember what I paid.
