Did some diving on Saturday, thought some might like to see some more life beneath the surface!

Some kind of egg mass.. neat stripes of three colours!

The highlight of the dive was when four sea lions came to check us out! I had the camera set in macro mode, and wasn't able to get good pictures, but the experience was as unreal as it always is. One was pulling on my dads fin, and I saw him whip around suprised at what he saw !

another REALLY crappy pic.. but you get the idea.

These are nudibranchs, the typically sit at the base of the kelp, BC has the most different species you can find in one place in the world... this one's pretty common really

Went for a night dive last night at Neck Point, lots of baby octopus, and a puffer-looking fish that I've never seen before, I'm told it's a 'lump-sucker'... Diving at least once, if not twice a week lately!

Very nice indeed!! It does bring back memories of our dive years while living on the island. I always loved those nudibranchs-so fragile looking yet graceful. Thanks for the shots!

underwater life is so darn facinating to me yet scuba diving scares the crap out of me. Took a lesson as a teenager in a pool and kept hitting my head on the tank and was just plain freaked about being underwater and being able to breathe too... and I taught swimming too! Love to snorkle... more control there I think...

On the cheaper side, you can get housings for Canon Powershots at london drugs for around $250 - I don't know how deep you can go with them.
The camera/housing I'm using is a sea&sea 7 megapixel with an external strobe flash --- you kind of need the extra lighting to get a good picture at depth though... this setup will run $1500+ :o

To all those who miss diving - look in the buy&sell for some cheap gear setups -- so many people buy the whole setup, then decide diving isn't for them - their loss can be your gain!

....and to those who forget how to dive - it's easy! Put reg in mouth, swim out, go under, and keep breathing! Come up before you're out of air too eh?
