WOW, that's what a stock ford pinion looks like?! No WONDER they designed a high pinion version!

I use to have a pathy with a 44 front a and 3 link rear with a 9". could never afford the high pinion 3rd, but it would of helped out huge. Nice purchase!

dont they use a 8.8'' ring gear? Freaking bling, beef and clearance.

No

The strange Hi pinion 9's use a 8.8" carrier and ring gear. They are also about 1 inch lower than mine.

Mine is a TRUE HI9 (company name) They use a true 9" ring gear made by richmond.
A normal 9" pinion is 2.25" below centerline of the ring.
A strange hi 9 pinion is 1.25" above centerline (approximate)
a True hi 9 pinion is 2.25" above centerline.

Strange hi 9 lowest gear is 4.88 (i belive it might even be 4.56)
True hi 9 lowest gear is 5.38. this is what i'm running.

It is!

My front axle consists of Yukon shafts and U-joint, Yukon gears and bearings. Detroit...

Can't build it much more

i loved my suspension setup and all the work was done. I just couildn't keep my driveshaft out of the rocks due to the long wheel base of teh nissan.

its not on the road yet as i still have to refab a drive shaft but it'll be soon

I thought it was Currie that made the 8.8" thing

The Hi9 still runs on the coast side when used in the rear. It should in theory be strongest up front.

Another 5 1/2" of drive shaft clearance.

Now you need a diff bucket to protect that investment...

You may be right on currie.

Also, yes it runs on the coast side and in theory it would be strongest up front.

However, if you look at the hi 9 design, they do a pretty good job of counteracting the deflection due to the thrust block.

ALL HIGH PINION DIFFS RUN ON THE COAST SITE WHEN IN A REAR APPLICATION
