heya was curious to know.. i have a 4.3L vortec eng in my blazer!
obviously with the heading on this post i want MORE power. i dont want to swap a 350 unless i have to! i was also curious about chev, belt driven superchargers? can i get on for a 4.3L or would it be shit and i might aswell spend the $$$ on a bigger engine? i also want something easy. not that i have to change everything including the tranny and freaking custom shit loads.

they do make them, but for the supercharger, injectors, computer etc. its easier and cheaper to put in a vortech 350. No replacement for displacement

honsetly...be realistic....do you even have money for one? or are you just dreaming. did you just want to start a cool tread??..just put a 350 in there...less headaces...

4.3L with supercharger = more fuel and 94+ octane, cost = $2800 approx.
350 Swap = a little more fuel and the cheep fuel, cost = $800 + engine approx., so about the same price if you get a good engine.

with the 4.3 supercharged you can expect the engine wearing out quicker, where as the 350 will be in near stock condition and put out the same amount of power.

the only reason to supercharge is because you can't fit a bigger engine under the hood. and even if there wasn't enough room, it's easy enough to modify the firewall.

the cost to performance ratio is way better to supercharge your engine the vortex supercharger with intercooler will give you way more power than a stock 350 and way more torque as well as be way easier to install but dont get crazy witht he boost or you'll eat up head gaskets and or pistons like no tomorow

build a typhoon ,or cyclone turbo motor, or find one

Mitsubishi TD06-17C/8cm2 turbocharger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbocharger) and Garrett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett) Water/Air intercooler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intercooler) attached to a 4.3 L LB4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Vortec_engine#LB4) V6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V6) engine with unique pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intake_manifold), fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin-bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM Small-Block engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Small-Block_engine).
280 hp (209 kW) and 360 ft·lbf (488 N·m),

would be funner.

water air intercoolers are no good for dai.ly use unless ya plumb a rad to them with electric water pump once they saturate they offer little to no charge cooling but they do work awsome for drag racing

i know that, im just posting basics from the motors available in the s blazers stock, one of my friends dads in school had a typhoon, and it spanked. more along as something to look into.

Yah im swingin more to the V8, the only thing that scares me about supercharging is the wear on my engine!

i was reading the other day about a smallblock chevV8 w/turbo's on it. it caught my attention but it just seems that a supercharger on my 4.3L would be easier! I dont want to go buying headers,ignitions,intakes....ect if im gona swap motors! so i gota make a decision soon!

I guess in the LONG run of things, a 350 would make more sense just cause parts are dirtcheap and easy to geta hold of!

if you put a super charger on it will take power away from the motor my sagestion is to but a 350 in

03-18-2007, 09:24 PM
put a turbonator in there that'll make er go

I think youre confused:confused: or am I

it takes hp to make hp with a super charger because it is driven off of the engine just like any other accessory

hmm... roots blower on a 07 C6 vette engine w/ 150 shot nos and cams. drool.

The only justification for the supercharger would be cause its lighter with the 4.3L than a SBC. But, cost, longevity and fuel economy arent in its favor. Go sbc, greatest engine ever produced.
