View Full Version : Stiff u-joint ???

So my buddy changed the ujoints on the rear d-shaft of my rig and the last one he put in he couldn't get the clip to seat all the way... and we noticed that when we tried to turn the joint (he he he) it was really stiff. My first thought is that maybe he tweaked the yoke a bit but we tapped them out using a dead blow hammer...WTF any tricks we could try... i'm gonna mess with it tommorrow hopefully...:confused0006:

more than likely u got a needle bearing in the cup either crushed now if ya forced it in far enough to put the clips on
if not take it apart retrieve the bearing and use some heavy grease to retain it while being reassembled.

i always find that u-joints are stiff, then ya give them a hammer blow on opposite sides to relieve them
