nice work dude, one thing though is you may want to switch the shackle from the front of the frame to the back side of the leafs, without this, you will need a track bar(to locate the axle laterally) or else you will run into huge death wobble issues. and another thing, you may need to remove leafs from the bottom of your spring pack, the ttb acts as a lever, and with that, runs a much stiffer spring than the solid axle.

think my leafs should be ok. their soo bagged they almost have negative arc when sittin on teh ground. plannin on runnin a track bar. was thinkin of doin teh shackle reversal but since I found the ttb was really startin to fall apart I decided to just get it done so may doin in the future. ya I know the blocks are sketchy but thats all we had. we gave it a good shake and it didn't seem liek it was goin anywhere

one thing just incase you didnt know, when making the track bnar, as with coil suspensions, if you run a track bar, you must have it the same length and angle as the drag link on your steering or you will runinto bump steer issues

I did the same thing to mine but i have not done a reverse shackle (no trac bar either) . It doesnt have a death wobble but the shackle in the rear makes more sense if the spring is positive arc (mine are)and it would take the twitch out of it
TTB spring rates are about 1.5 times the the rate of a straight axle so you might very well need to remove spings to soften up the ride (I had to)

jakerngr

is there a width difference between spring perches on the ttb as compared
to a solid d60

barracuda
02-11-2007, 08:14 PM
if it is the same body style No Its around 36.5

wierd, i guess some people can get away with it. one of my buddys(uncle lele who used to be here) did a solid axle and did not reverse the shackle and ran into huge death wobble, and i have herd of others, which is why i did a shackle reversal on mine,

with that being said, id run it without a trac bar, and if it does have death wobble, then fix it, but if the trac bar isnt needed dont run it

ya will probably take it for a spin with out the track bar and see how it is

king pin was gone in 79 in exchange for balljoints i think

I encounterd the death wobble a couple of time on test runs when i first put it together but i adjusted the alignment and tightened everything and it was fine. I have actually had more death wobble issues with the TTB. :dontknow:

91 was the last hp d60 kp ford offered. 91-present bj

as far a s a track bar accelerate hard right to 60=km if she wobbles u will know it
it is easy to keep track bar and draglink happy by going full histeer

Dude, careful with those cinder blocks, as they dont have much strength when laid on the side. mabye fill the cores with a couple 2x4s so if they crack, the truck wont go the whole way down.

lookin good, what are you doing for steering? stock push/pull or going to do crossover high-steer? OTT makes nice bolt on steering arm..

wooo shes in and drivin. everything bolted up real nice. been drivin in around a bit. gonna need a track bar. no death wobble but the steering is kinda vague. can feel teh front end walkin around under teh truck a bit when cornering. got probably liek 2 inches of lift from what the ttb was sittin at. spings have positive arc again. might take a leaf out of teh front pack. rides a bit stiff but its nothin to bad. sits a lil higher in teh front now. gotta go to teh wrecker and pick up the shaft from the truck it came out of. mine is a lil to long.

haha my bad. paid 1700. I know I over paid but its all I could find and I wasn't about to put any more coin into the ttb.
