The brother has a 1987 YJ, lifted on 33's... anywho he blew up the rear diff. He just needs it fixed so he can sell it. Do we need parts out of another yj? or willl XJ parts or ford 9inch parts work. Anyone have a complete rear diff assembly? gears... anything?

depends on what he blew.....

spiders?
side gears?
ring gear ?

pinion gear?

is there shrapnel through the cover?

and no a 9" will not work....

I'll find out whats blown, but no... these is nothing showing through the cover. when you drive there is a constant grinding and you can hear shit rattling around. What kind of vehicle do I get the 8.8 outa? Could I through 8.8 spider gears into his diff? He said the mechanic told him thats what blew.

I dont know what he's asking for it, but probably a little more than you guys want to spend. I believe it was somewhere around $5500, but the bottom end is fresh. Pistons/rings/oil pump/timing chain and gear set, main and rod bearings, crap load of seals... rear main etc. Year old BFG Mud terrains... I can talk to him and post pics if wanted...

No your JEEP has a d35 axle non c clip

if he needs spiders u need em from and for a d35 on a side note might be easier swaping in another carrier

if he wants to up grade then a 8.8 out of a ford explorer would work well be aware that it will need modifications...
