View Full Version : NEW GEARS. Its Christmas in July

I went and got myself some new gears. 4:88's and a rear locker. just wondering if anyone can recommend someone or a shop to install them . i would but looking at the instructions , i dont seem to have the proper tools. And if possible I wouldnt mind watching and learning.

You might try Merv He drives that S10 on 46's he does that stuff Ph: 604-607-5593 he did mine

id recemend taking it into ford dealership where they have all the specialty tools and proper set up for pinion depth and carrier shims etc. prob cost alot but less than buyin another set if gears because the guy didnt set up the proer pinion depth or too tight of backlash or couldnt get a god pattern, what kind of ford do yo have?

ive got a 95 ford f-150. inline 6 , 8.8 rear and dana 44 frontnot much done to it except a 6inch lift and 2 inch body with 37 inch boots. whitch is the reason for new gears.

is it a detroit trutrac ltd slip or a detroit locker?

gill, have to keep in touch with you! i have a 95 f150 long box inline six with a 6 inch procomp, im looking to do a 2 inch body lift and 37's as well:confused0006:

did you run stock gearing with the 37's? :eek:

foes - yep ive bin running stock gears and its slow as hell and sucking back the gas.

what were your stock gearing? 3.55 i assume? and how bad was it on the trails?

yep 3.55 . its ok on the trails and what not but when ever i needed the torque and power behind it. it wasn't there.

I took my old ranger to Job Rite in langley to do the gears. I felt a bit ripped off, but I do whenever I use a mechanic

you probobly did get ripped if you used jobwrong i hate those guys. most expensive around. try berts auto or mainland transmission very experienced and professional.
