...What kind of oil do you use in an air compressor? I mean..for the motor, not the tools.

typically a non-detergent type... pump oil....

30 weight none detergent. can get it at any automotive place. walmart and crappy tire should have it too.

I run this in my Speedaire compressor(2cyl) and no problems. You can also get compressor oil at any place like PA ,Lordco,KMS home depot etc etc.I change my compressor oil evry 4 months or so.

I use diesel oil. Use it for all out machines at work cheap and sticks really well.

automotive oil has great protection but i think the detrgents in them are designed to work with a combustion motor and may gum up a regular air pump or something of that sort. i'm sure someone could clearfty that.

Could be, our compressor is 20 years old with the orignal rings and it runs allot. Diesel oil since new. I know diesel oil takes allot more torque before shearing. It works really good for pressing sheet metal too. it might not be the right oil but its cheap and works pretty good
