i have an 89 4runner that i am puting a 4.3 vortec out of a 98 blazer, just wondering which guidelines they will go by the blazer or the toyota

They would go by the toyota, and because your dealing with stupid people, your best not to tell them.

oh by the way we go by what people say, the 22r has way different cut points than a 4.3 but tell them what you want and see if it passes

Do you work at a testing station? Didnt mean to offend, but the people who work there for the most part don't need any mechanical knowledge. If you tell them of major changes, it just confuses things. If it were to be tested as a 98 4.3 it would be tested useing the im 240 which is a lot harder to pass, since it is grams permile rather than percentages that the old vehicles get tested by.

oh you did'nt offend me, as for the motor they don't care what year the motor is 78 or a 98 they just want the cylanders and displacement like my truck is a 8 cylander 5.8
