Has anyone experienced electronic timing issues with the older 4.3's. My 90 safari had an intermittent ignition timing problem that's become permanent. It's already blown the nose cone off one new starter. the problem has now become constant. it won't start just tries to kick back once in a while. I've changed the battery, starter, ign module, spark control module. can't live without my van right now.... PLEASE HELP!!!

Uhmmm..... there's a magnetic pickup ring deal in the distributor... they crack and things go downhill. Worth a look anyways.

Check the dist. shaft itself for play.(side to side) Just worked on one in the shop that had a shit load of issues including the one your describing.
