View Full Version : Just changed u-joints for the first time

YEY! I just had to share... After a bunch of reading I just successfully replaced the U joints on my front driveshaft! It was easier than I thought, although the CV joint took a while. YEY for learning! :)

Yup it is easy. All you need is two appropriately sized sockets and a hammer, yeehaw! I actually have done it that way...I prefer a press, but sometimes you just have to work with what ya got.

way to go, i usually beat the fuck outta my u joints with a nice big punch and hammer, but nothing beats tearin stuff apart and figuring out how it works and what to fix yourself

The correct tool is only $50 at princess auto, $30 on sale. Works awsome.

Uhm.... hammer, needle nose, and... yup, that's about it. No vice needed, cause I change them in mid-air...

don't forget about the emergency beer. alwase good to have when u brake down unexpectidly.
