Hey every one,

I've been looking every were for a Dana 44 for my XJ with not much luck.
I've have bee putting my front Dana 44 together and looking for a matching rear.
If some has one or can point my in the direction of some that does it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

go with a ford explorer 8.8. much stronger diff and if you get a newer one they have factory disc brakes, and basically the same width, and same bolt pattern

What front D44 do you have...

If it is a 'real' one you don't want an XJ D44.

Unless you've got a rubi-CON front D44.

The front D44 is from a 81 waggy, from what I understand about the ruby's D44/30 is the pumkin is 44 and the knuckes 30. This axle should be call a Dana Hybrid.

So back to the rear 44, I've been looking for some time and have come across afew and all wanting huge coin for them. I can't see paying $325 for just a empty housing and then $100 more for the stock axles.
I'll use a Ford 9" if I have to, you pratically trip over them in the bone yards and can buy a housing for $40 .

dude, i just told you, go with a ford explorer 8.8, there is a reason everyone does it, 31 spline shafts, tons of aftermarket, warlord uses one and doesnt brake all the time on 38.5 boggers, supposed to be as strong as a 31spline 9" and you dont need to narrow it down, i run a stock 31spline 8.8 with a detroit and 5.13's and have yet to hear a peep from it

Well that was fucked... Sorry Chris.. Apparently it isn't a D44 as I had thought (was told) when I bought it...I anint a mechanic so took a friends (CLEM) word on it.. Diff cover wasn't there and it did come out of a 91 XJ sport. It is in fact, thanks to Chris, a Chrysler 8.25 with 3 55's.
Don't know what its good for now..
