any gel type batt is good, doesn't have to be a opteee. deep cycle is the way to go for batt life. if your looking for amps for the music after hours, a budy of mine went with to 6 volts ( gel ) to lengthen out the time between charging[cheers]

All our large equipment at work uses interstate deep cycle batteries, real pleased with em. A lot of our diesels run single batteries and they require a fair bit of cranking to get em going and they have lasted really well. THey also show up usually same day as ordered or definatly early next day, good people to deal with.

if youre going for optima, go for the blue top. same as the yellow but with more terminals. also get the bigger one. all there models come in two sizes. the bigger ones are fairly expencive though.

if you want killer reserve cpacity and supper long life and tons of amps, two 6 volt golf cart batteries will outdo twin optima's at about half the cost.

I got an Optima Red Top which has been flawless. It's seen winching in my truck as well as done 2 trips to the North(Yukon) seeing temps from the mid 30's to almost -20C. I've even been a retard(insert b.s. here!!) and load tested the Red by leaving the lights on overnight. Fired right up. With that said, lots of folk say any spiral cell battery is good.....better than pushing!!

These batteries are coming in some of our trucks and the warranty room is full of them. I think there might be a problem.
