Well, I cut up the old iron today and got a new front end in the landcruiser. The new front end now has disk brakes with vented rotors, aqualu high steer, shackle reversal and spring over lift. Tomarrow I will set up the rear, and by monday I hope to get the driveshafts lengthened. I'll post up the pictures as soon as I get a little more done.

No pics yet but the rear end is now in, sitten at ride height. I just have to deal with brake lines and driveshafts. Im also looking for a set of spacers for a toy 4X4 if anyone has a extra set. Anyways I'll try to get around to pictures this weekend.

that has the standard 6bolt right? how big of a spacer are you looking for? I run 1 1/2" ones in the rear for frame clearance. Let me know what size you need I can get em for ya.

Alright, well I had some trouble resizing all the pictures, but I do have some pics of it all lifted now. Anyways I need some wheel spacers before I can get it rolling. I also have to fix the draglink, modify brake lines, and have the driveshafts lengthened. Here is the pictures I have.

KINGCRUISER

Hopefully the spacers are in tomarrow so I can get it rolling. I think its gonna be 300 for all 4 corners. Grant has been helping me with it at his place in exchange for some welding, its toyota city at his place right now. Oh and does anyone have a pitman arm puller I could borrow.

Same costwise, how does I got it for free with the axle sound. It will work for now but I may need some beefy tie rods.

Well the spacers Alsek sold me look awsome, they should work good. I did my shock mounts today, and worked on the brake lines for a while. I had to order a hard line from Toyota and it will be here on saturday. I still have to take care of the draglink and driveshafts. Where is the best place to get tie rod ends at in Kelowna?

It's been a slow week, just working out a few issues here and there. Still need to get a draglink made, and have the driveshafts lengthened. The brakes are almost done, gonna leave the line lock and preportioning valve till shes rolling though. I had a few more pictures but non seemed to work very well, other than that I just want to wheel it really bad.

So today was a good day, finshed up all the brakelines, just need to bleed the system. Got all the new rod ends and draglink made, now they just need to be put in. After that is done all I need to do is lengthen driveshafts. I also plan to arch the front leaves 3 more inches and get the rear spring perches welded. Hopefully it will all be done and flexed by friday, so I can wheel it on the weekend. I will get more pics as soon as it moves.

exo_toy
01-03-2007, 08:06 PM
looking good! Might be hard to get 3" of re-arch in the front springs. The most we reccomend is 2" because for every inch that you arch, you loose the same in length. If you go more than 2-2.5, the spring is too short and you end up with shackle angle problems. the shackle will sit vertical and want to invert itself. Depending on how the front shackles sit now, that will determine how much you can safely arch them.

nice ride man. Congrats on the build. I use the aqualu arm its a drag link killer. You gotta goto a solid drag link. I'm welded and smurfed in the front and no problems. I'm running 37 ground hawgs. ( yeah they're only good in mud). I think I'm gonna try the set up on IH8MUD. Being welded up front and no ps, that ram assist sounds pretty good.

KINGCRUISER
01-11-2007, 07:29 AM
Yeah we'll see I dont think the fenders will be a issue as its about 7 inches higher. I mean the 35's fit fine before, so some 39's should fit in nicely. If theres a clearance problem it will be bigger tires hitting the bumper, but the bumpers have to change anyhow.

looks good man, i agree with the bob job. But it would be a shame to cut that nice aluminum box.

KINGCRUISER
01-11-2007, 04:08 PM
Heres what I think about bobing the bed. First of all, I like having a truck and being able to put shit in the box, bobing it would leave almost no room because of the propane tank. Secondly if I wanted really good approach angles, I might as well sell the 45 and buy a 40 to drop a chunk of change on. Finally, I feel cutting into the FJ box is like buying a lamborgini and deciding to cut off the top because a convertable lambo would be cooler. You just wouldn't do it, some things are good, but not all the time. Anyways the bed wont be bobed for now, but I am planning on redoing the bumpers to give me a little better departure angle.

little touchy about the box?? cut it, leave it, it dont matter. There is one thing I know of for sure, it will get hung up. but until you get lockers, it probably wont be an issue.

If you ever decide to shorten it, it isnt much harder to weld the aluminum vs. the steel. Probably be around $500-$600 to splice a section out.

What i meant was If you are going to be wheeling every weekend, you will get annoyed at that box thats all, but if your only gonna go once a month or something then it wont matter.

Way I see it mech jobs are way better, don't know how drawing up sewar plans is way better than operating a CNC machine or steering a large ships, but i prefer mechanical. As for the gearing, its always been super low so it wouldn't be an issue to go with bigger tires, there wouldn't be a huge rubbing problem either. Who is terry?

He said 'Hardcore CRUISER' guys, not Hardcore WHEELERs. Also, for the record, you see lots of reasonably original looking big cruisers. If you were to buy one and hack it apart so it doesn't even look like a cruiser, you might as well just buy a YJ or some shit and do it up. Everything is cheaper, and people EXPECT you to break it, and don't laugh as hard when it does.
