And to be totally honest, it's hard to help without knowing exactly what you've done, which is hard to know unless we can see what you've done. :(

did you just take the hanger off flip it and put it back in the same spot??? but with the shackle faceing down instead of up???

like b said you have to drop the hanger down to at least where the eye of the hole was to start with

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 07:58 PM
put it back the way it was and cut out the bottom of the hanger then brace it

I'll be selling my dropped hangers here shortly. 4 inches front and 10 inches rear. 6 if you lose the rear leaf spring blocks, 4 with just the hangers and stock rear shackles.

Don't build one, just go to a scrap yard and get a duplicate of your front one. I don't know if the holes will line up at all, but just put in a few holes and nut'n'bolt it and your done. Most cops will see it, looks fine and factory and they leave you alone. It's also a lot easier than building your own. I've seen some good ones out there, I've also seen a lot of crap. 't's just a lot easier this way, and looks better. Just my pennys worth, and worth exactly what you paid for.

I haven't seen any nice ones out there by using stock hangers with flips. All of the ones i've seen on the net looked crappy.

A shackle flip is supposed to involve using the front shackle on the rear leafs...I've seen it done, it does look factory, and it works really well. 2wd Chev shackles give about 6" on their own.

It's the rear shackle that's the common one. I've only seen front "H" style shackles on the rear of toyota's and possibly other imports....
I never thought about using a front shackle because the rear shackle was always there ready to be flipped....:)

Before you rip the old ones off measurer where the srping eye is in relation to your frame. When you get the new ones you can place them where you want them in rerlation to lift before you drill your holes. If you only want a couple inches, then just move it to where the eye will be in the desired spot. As far as leaving the original ones in place and torching out the bottom and then bracing it, if it's gonna be a dailly driver, and beeing 15 it might not be, I wouldn't do it. Any cop can see it through the wheelwell, easy. They never look right, and even if your truck is tame, you'll probebly get a box 2 easily and then have to change it anyways to pass inspection.

So it doesn't look like it was built from the factory then. Maybe there's some side to side flex? How are the 4 bushings? You can get alot of play with those worn out.

Show us some pics and we'll gladdly help. Sounds like you welded them a little twisted, or they pulled.

Shucks, maybe one has a different offset than the other. Are they both from the same truck? I know chev spring perches are a different width apart. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Kyle go get the tape measure too. We'll figure this out. My build is still kind of fresh in my head. I went through all of this 2 winters ago. Well, except the crooked part.
