That is what I am missing. Didn;t know you can run without the shaft clipand outer washer

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 11:28 AM
i have done it before and the axle didnt go any where just be really nice to it and only use 4x4 if you have to you should be fine

Honky
12-07-2006, 11:29 AM
Where I am going this weekend towing at trailer 4X4 is a must...and with the trailer I will be using the lockers as well

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 11:33 AM
hmmmm so what you need to find is a 27 spline washer you can make a retainer up no problem
I cant think of what could happen without that retainer in there is not enough slip yoke in the passenger shaft for the axle to fall out of the hub.
if it was the driver side you would be wicked

In The Zone
12-07-2006, 11:33 AM
will the c clips from the d44 axles work or is there a difference in size?

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 11:34 AM
19 spline axles on a d44

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 11:35 AM
should be able to find a ranger /explorer in damn near every wrecking yard around

FINGERS
12-07-2006, 12:01 PM

and run without on the drivers side

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 12:05 PM

I just posted this but.......

Not having much success in finding a breakdown of the Dana35 My shop manual will have it but that is in the ford.

Going from memory I need

1 spacer between the bearing and the inner spindle nut.
1 outer spacer with teeth goes on after the outer spindle nut
1 shaft retainer clip

jakerngr

i just called lordco again and the shaft retainer clip comes with a set of hubs and the guy sad to call coast power train for the splined steel washer
there is no spacer between the bearing and inner nut

Honky
12-07-2006, 12:23 PM
Right on [36]

So it looks like need

58 this is strange,I was sure there was a thin spacer between the bearing and the inner spindle nut

51
63

But thank you this make is easier [cheers]

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 12:30 PM
51 is just a tin piece of shit that does nothing it is not needed for anything but keeping dust from falling in
63 you need and the splined washer wich is 61 on the diagram i just dont think it is named correctly

Honky
12-07-2006, 12:42 PM
Yeah if I had 61 and 63 I would be good to go!!

any idea's no how to find them in the next 3 hours?

In The Zone
12-07-2006, 01:03 PM
your right 61 is labeled incorrectly..axel shaft retainer...ie and kev just use the splined washer from the driverside.... quick to get to .. snap ring is a common size im sure at a fastner place.. or industrial parts store..

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 01:44 PM
order a set of warn hubs take one snap ring out and send them back

jakerngr
12-07-2006, 01:44 PM
coast powertrain !!!!! worth a shot

barracuda
12-07-2006, 01:56 PM
