What was the last year made?
when did they start fuel injection?
are they reliable with the v8?
If i wanted a clean,Newer one with an injected v8 what would i need to spend.
Can they take a beating
How much can they tow?

AFAIK the last year made was '96
The V8 is reliable
I beat the shit outta mine and it still keeps on rolling
I have a buddy selling his '96 Eddie Bauer with a skyjacker 6 inch lift, remote start, leather interior, custom swing away tire carrier from BCC, super clean. He wants 12G's

For more info on Bronco's, try www.fullsizebronco.com (http://www.fullsizebronco.com/)

uh, pretty low on the milage. I get between 7-14mpg, depending on the day.

but I have a bigass Edelbrock carb on my 302.

It would have to be fuel injected.

86 the 5.0L got EFI, '87 or '88 for the 351w and 300-I6. FSB's kick ass. The fullsizes were made till '96.
Any engine youll find in a bronco will be good for 'wheelin, the 300 I6 will crawl better. The autos with o/d and the 5 speeds arent the best but they do fairly well. The 4 speed std or a 3 speed auto (c6) are killer trannies. You said you wanted EFI, they started running 8.8" rearends around the same time they switched from carbs. Its a half decent axle. Around 95, maybe on the odd 94 they have MAF (Mass Air Flow) EFI systems, which are way more responsive to mods, and get you better mileage stock vs stock when compared next to the Speed Density system origionally used. You can get good mileage (+17mpg) out of a 302 in a stockish bronco.

maybe ill think of more info for you later

broncos are ruff and tuff try for manual shift t case auto hubs are easy to convert i had a 87 4 speed and a 89 auto both 302's look for rust over rear wheel wells from inside the truck and the floor along the body seem around the rear seat

Mine gets awesome mileage, it's still pretty much on full and the last time I filled it was July! :D (mind you that was the last time I drove it) I never really tried too hard to sell it last time, someone lowballed me and I said forget it, I'd rather let it sit there, and so it has. I'll go out and fire it up every month or so, and she fires right up. Not that I'm trying to sell it again, was offered more as a joke! [cheers]

But yeah, really check the rear quarters for rust as well as right above the doors where the hard top meets the body, they are notorious for rusting there, but are really rock solid trucks, that's kinda why I'm not really trying to flog it off, still debating on taking a sawzall to it and throwing some 35's on it, I'm kinda hesitant to really trash my exploder, but the Bronco, that's whole different ball game, she's not the prettiest out there, so maybe I'll take the doors and top off like Heavy and drive around all winter! :D :D :D [cheers]

(then again, I'm too much of a puss to freeze like that)

they are painfully gutless with a 302, they can't push a headwind on flat highway

you must have had a sacked out 5.0L, or huge tires and high gears...or both.
I had a 90 F150 regular cab, long box w/3.55 limited slip and 33s with the M5OD-R2 5 speed...I could roast em from a roll in 2nd w/o powerbraking. I drove my cousins 89, same truck except it had 35s, from merrit to winfield and never had to drop it into 3rd going up any of the hill on the coquihalla. He now has a '91 F250 with the same set up, 3.55s and 35s and it will throw mud like a SOB.
My advice is to take one for a drive and decide for yourself. The best advice I can give you is to stay away from the OD auto trans ones. Specifically the E4OD, its like a rich biatch...fussy and expensive.

i had a shortbox f150(same running gear as the bronco, m5od r2, 8.8, d44ttb) was reliable as hell, only problem i had was when we put the hubs back together backwards, and the 4wd didnt work. people bash the m5od trannys, but i never had one issue with it

thats what i have in my ranger now and the only complaint that i have about the m5od is its hard to shift when cold but that is no big deal. maybe its just mine that does that

rangers got M5OD-R1's, the one the fullsizes used is beefed up internally some....The E4OD is a strong tranny, and when working properly and maintained correctly its good. When things go wrong they are expensive to fix. Im not sure but I think the first OD auto was an AOD, since I dont think that the E4OD came untill later years. Best to check it out for yourself tho.
