I see you were in Hanoi. Did you stop by the Hanoi Hilton!? From what I understand it was a jail for American prisoners captured by VC.

I worked with a fellow from Northern Vietnam who had some serious stories about that place... he even told me he sat on a anti-aircraft gun and shot planes out of the sky! He said it was like riding a bike... and made the sound affect "king king king king... king king..." LOL was great.

Enjoy your trip man... I'm jealous...

Thanks Mike [cheers]

I'm here with a good friend for 3 months then we are going to Cambodia, Laos, Thialand, and if the money holds up to Malaysia. 6-12 months. We have been traveling the North of Vietnam quite a bit and are now in NhaTrang (central) where we plan on spending Xmas. The diving here is very good but we are here in the rainy season so visibility isn't great. As for hotels we have been staying in smaller joints 5-10$/night w/ Air-Con. But the hostels are not much cheeper and hard to find if exist at all. I figure we are living on 10-12$/Day and thats including a couple Huge local beers with dinner.

Great hearing from yall.... How are the old Canukle-heads doing anyways:confused: Canadian News here is non-existant (some US / Brit and lots of Ausi) The jeep is a left-over from the "American" War as it is referd to here, and there are tons of them around in great shape still. I wish I could bring on home, that would be the ulitimate souvineer [36] As for the gut I thought I would be losing wieght while here but the food is cheap and dam good, so I be getting fatter as the pics go on :D The Sea food is Nut-bar ..... Huge Crab or Lobster for 3-5U$ I'll do what I can about those Pics ;) B

[cheers] Guys I miss yall and the snow .................

Cool jeep (lower cased 'j' as it's not a "Jeep"

Military M151A2 (MUTT) made by Ford. I used to drive one, we also had Jeep M38A1 (slightly shorter than a CJ5). I liked the MUTT better as it had a 4 speed trans.

Nice pics, wounder how safe it is to travel there?
For $10- $12 a day it's better than Mexico.

And my pics link (again) is .....

Sorry about the lack of blogs I will get more done soon but its hard to find the time where your in a place like this [cheers]

12-25-2006, 02:38 PM
in reference to your 'swastika' picture in your photobucket gallery:

(the first result when I search for 'Nazi' in google image search)

(your pic)

Notice anything strange? Well if you do, that's good. The Nazi Swastika that we all 'know and love' is actually a reversed and twisted version of an old (no longer used as far as I know, for obvious reasons) Jewish faith symbol that means something I know nothing about (not being Jewish). The Nazi's adopted the symbol because it is 'anti' that symbol, kind of like how devil worshippers use an upside down 5 pointed star and upside down crosses as symbols.

It is acctually a buddist symbol and shows up in both dirrections all over the place here. There is even gold and silver necklaces with it sold in the markets here ...... might have to bring one back
