Dug these out of the archives.. a few years ago, my first digger was an 86 F150 302/aod/208. I put 32's on it and thought i was king of the hill... but twas not so. Headed for the bush in the spring, drove on some slippery stuff and down it went!

By 2002, i had a 4" trailmaster susp lift in it and 35's Plus a 351C with a little ooomph. The river came up and out at grampa's junkyard some of the cars tried to float away so i dove in and pulled a few out. Its pretty deep in a couple spots, water was coming in the doors! It was on BCTV.. anyone remember seeing it?

hey clave what are the plans for your 78 ford??

Well i already replaced the 351M, C6 and 205 with a 351C, AOD and 208. It came with 4.11 limited slip but i'd like to upgrade that to 4.56 or 4.88 because even with the 4.11's the O/D gear doesnt kick in on the highway till about 120km/h with the 35's. I want to eventually replace the 208 with a 205 if itll bolt on an AOD trouble free. Gotta do some welding on the box, i've been thinking of putting a winch on the front, i have a hitch for the back which will go on in the spring. Also planning on upgrading the engine, i want to put better heads, and intake on it plus a little bit bigger carb than the 1405 Eddy. Might add a sunvisor but it'll probably get ripped off anyhow... a treebranch already ripped off the passenger door mirror. Instead of putting it back on i'll take the drivers one off too. It was supposed to be just a fun bush beater but now its almost too nice for that. I want to build a 78 or 79 3/4 ton possibly next year if i get time inbetween my other 10 projects. Ive got a 79 F350 D60 HP diff already, half a dozen parts trucks and lots of engines/trannys and t-cases, now i just need the time.

Man, why'd you ditch the C6/205?

Well the reason the truck was put up for sale was because the tranny was done. I wanted to put the 205 on the AOD but everyone told me it wouldnt fit at the time, now everyone seems to think it'll work. I should have just bolted it on like i wanted to in the first place.. that'll teach me to listen to anyone else lol. When i get back from workin up north in the spring im going to take the 208 off and put it and the 205 side by side to compare. I'll probably post pics in case anyone else wants to know too. I wanted the AOD instead of rebuilding the C6 for two reasons: 1. the AOD was just rebuilt only a couple months before the '86 got wrecked. 2. I knew i wanted at least 35's on the '78 and have wanted to run much steeper gears right from the beginning. They'd give me a great first gear and i'd still have the lower highway RPM's.

Ford T-cases are all the same. It'll pretty much bolt to anything and everything you want. C6, E4OD, AOD, etc.

Anyway, I was just curious.
