what are the obvious differences? lookin to pick up a truck tonight that apparently has a 35 but dont wanna get shafted.... what do i look for?

there will be a marking on the third...

the d35 is bigger ring gear meaning bigger housing u will know....

are the axles not larger would it not have a different hub size to ?

Not 100% sure never wasted my time looking at a d35 for any length of time..

but i believe the 28 and 35 are a different spline count and bigger bearings not sure on the hubs

i believe they are the same....size... i could be wrong but i remeber some one modding a d35 with d44 outers and knuckles....


so i would say ya they are probally the same

d 35 housing is quite a bit larger over all
if the axle u joint are tiny its a d28
if they look the same size as a 44 its a d35
also if it looks like the front tires stick out a bit further than the rear its a 35

the stub shafts have a bigger splie count on the 35. i dunnu if its a significant differrence luuking a tthe hub but if you pull the tire and hub ull notice. You should be able to tell from the diff size as it is noticeably bigger..35 is a uprage from the 28 but the weak point in a 35 is that the wheel bearings are too close together...
